Terrific Tip Tuesdays

Hello Beauties!!!

I read plenty of blogs daily and I run across great tips daily and I thought to myself “Self why not share this information with others and do it every Tuesday!” So I have decided to start doing “Terrific Tip Tuesdays” and share the amazing information I happened to come across while reading other great blogs. So first up, Talking with Tami of course….not only is she a GREAT person and friend but she has the “deeds” on everything FIRST! That’s right first time I got wind of the elevator mishap was reading the breaking story on her blog http://www.talkingwithtami.com/ then everyone followed behind her. Today I was on her blog and came across a great tutorial from yet another fab blogger Aimee Song of http://www.songofstyle.com/ which is a blog about fashion and interior design.

In the video below Aimee is sharing great tips on how to take perfect Instagram pictures. I found this video to be very helpful and can’t wait to see how my pictures improve. If you want to always be in the know then you should add Talking with Tami to your daily blog roll. Enjoy!!

JayZ Wants You To Know……

That the “Jigga” man has done it again! No, No we are not talking about another altercation in an elevator but another opening of his 40/40 Club right here in Atlanta! Well okay, sort of in Atlanta more like the Atlanta Hartsfield Jackson International Airport Concourse D Level….but hey who cares it’s here!! The 1,500 square foot space will mirror the design of the elite New York 40/40 club which is fabulous by the way and serves great food.

This smaller but still posh version of the 40/40 will have a slight advantage over the New York and Vegas location because this fine establishment will serve breakfast, lunch and dinner to the over 1 million travelers who come through this airport every year. The talks of opening this location has been discussed with our Mayor since 2011 and now the grand opening is today May 14th. I am excited to visit this location and give my two hits, I mean two cents in a review. Congradulations JayZ and keep an eye on the guest list we don’t want any more shocking surprises now do we?

Weekend Rewind

This past weekend was filled with a lot of surprises, shocking moments and a lot of “awwwww” moments as well. First up would be the Sister 2 Sister “Girls Night Out” which was held on May 8th by http://s2smagazine.com/ event that was held at the lovely Mason Murer Art Gallery http://masonmurer.com/ which I attended with fellow blogger Shay Briggs of J’Chanet blog http://www.jchanet.com/. I have only been reading Sister 2 Sister magazine which seems like forever so I was uber excited to finally meet Jamie Foster Brown who is the owner and publisher of the magazine which launched in 1988. I will tell you that she was exactly how I imagined her to be, bubbly, kind and so cordial with each and every person that attended that event. There were a lot of venders there, mostly independently owned brands and some major brands but they all seemed to coincide with each other.

This event brought out the city hottest celebs which included, Tameka “Tiny” Harris, Clifford “TIP” Harris, Toya Wright, Apollo Nida….yes you read that right the one and only from The Real Atlanta Housewives….I was shocked as well. The cast members of “Married to Medicine” and Tara Lewis from “Sister Hood” among many others. My stilettos had given me my 5min warning so I didn’t stay until they started to clean up but I came, I saw, I left. The event was “okay” I was really expecting it to be more and the swag bags that were given out totally SUCKED!! I am working on another post about these events with poor planning and it will be a good one so stay tuned for that.

Now my second event on Saturday, May 10th which was held at Westside Cultural Arts Center was one that I was waiting on! The AMLA Legend Style Society or as the hashtag read #Legendary Style Soiree with celebrity guest host Tracee Ellis Ross ( you know Diana Ross daughter) and hair stylist Johnny Wright ( keeps the First Lady hair in order) had me pulling out my finest vintage outfit I could find to attend this event. The event was really nice, nice mixed crowd of Bloggers and Fashionistas and even a few celebrities came through to show love to Tracee who wasn’t so willing to so show love back or even her face for that matter but decided to throw “shade” like none other. The story is that she doesn’t respect or want to be photographed with “Reality Stars” so when Tameka “Tiny” Harris, KeKe Wyatt & Shekinah came through (who are all actually relevant and on television weekly) to show support it was painfully obvious that Tracee was gonna be a “no show”.

The swag bag from this event made up for that foolishness from Sister 2 Sister was handing out because it was filled with actual products!! Oh and on a quick note: My Mother’s Day was fabulous and I spent it with my mini-me and her Father, but Mother’s day is every day with those two in my life and I truly enjoyed it. I have included a few pictures because I was totally over it this weekend.

Wrap It Up-In a “Chic way of course”

Mother Nature has finally gotten herself together and is playing nice now I see and for that my dear lady “we thank you”. Now that the sun is out the beach and your local community pool is knocking off those last chills from winter and it’s time to get summer chic and what better way to do that than with a glamorous headwrap. I have seen this trend of fabulous head wraps for many seasons now and of course my fashion icon June Ambrose wears them so amazingly well that I think I will try to wear one on my upcoming trip to Hilton Head Island.

Wearing headwraps or turbans if you would like to be formal about it, anywho the headwraps are the perfect summer accessory to glam up your wardrobe. If you are visiting the pool or beach or running errands you will look amazingly well put together and of course very fashionable. Let’s remember shall we, turbans and headwraps are our lifesavers on a bad hair day. Don’t be afraid to go loud with patterns, neon colors and graphic designs, go ahead and release your inner “chic-ness” tribal instincts!

I found a great YouTube video that will show you how to even use leggings, YES LEGGINGS as headwraps! Enjoy the tutorial video and check out my favorite looks below. Are you daring enough to wear a headwrap or turban? If so send in your pictures and share your fabulous look!

Check out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j89-zEs-8dw to learn how to create a great headwrap!

My Coffee Shop @ East Lake- Review

Happy Hump Day!!!

This morning on my drive into the office I decided to stop by this small coffee shop to well…..try the coffee and write a review. I have been wanting to stop and patronize this coffee shop for some time, just never took the time to stop in and grab a hot cup of “Joe” until today. I will admit that the side of the building is what really caught my eye, the mural of the huge cup of Brazilian lemonade advertised was a bright and innovative way of catching the eye of passing potential patrons.
I was also intrigued by the green circles that you would follow to the front door of the coffee shop, almost like following the yellow brick road but not so much.

The inside of this cozy place was well just as whimsical on the inside as the outside. They offered of course free wifi, a nice comfy looking reading nook, nostalgic pieces of furniture and art that made me want to forgo work and spend my day right here. I walked slowly through the coffee shop trying to take in all that I could before I had to dash back to my car and finish my grueling commute across town. I was greeted with a smile and a stare because I was unfamiliar with what was offered and fumbled through my order. I handed over my $1.60 for my coffee which was extremely good to my surprise, snapped a few more pictures and out the door I dashed.

I found this quiet little spot that was nestled in the East Lake community to be cozy, convenient and inviting. If you are ever on Memorial Drive and you are need of a great work space or great cup of coffee, I would recommend that you stop in to My Coffee Shop at East Lake, 2462 Memorial Drive SE, Atlanta Ga and be sure to check out the website http://www.mycoffeeshopel.com/ they have more to offer than just coffee. Enjoy!
